Garage Extreme Makeover.

Tandem Garage Space.
Since I first moved to this house, I wanted to clean up the garage to make it more professional and cleaner looking.  I wanted it to be a place where I could relax, tinker, and detail my cars.  Originally, the garage was semi finished with sheet rock, that's it.  We painted the walls with semi gloss white but ran out of energy to do the ceiling since it takes a bunch of effort and the ceiling is around 15 feet high.  No one looks up right?  Ha. Well, we painted the walls about five years ago and have not done anything since.

Fast forward to now and things are moving in the right direction.  I had a week off to contemplate what I wanted to do without spending too much and to execute my plan.

First off, I painted the concrete foundation around the perimeter of the garage.  Using slate gray paint and some masking this improved the overall appearance of the garage tremendously.  Much cleaner looking.

Second, paint the unfinished wooden stairs.  With the same color paint but for porches, I painted the stairs to the outside garage door and the stairs to the inside of the house.  The railings were painted in white to provide some contrast.  Several coats were required on the railing before the desired effect was obtained.

Third, two Craftsman tool chests were purchased from Sears to hide my supplies.  They assembled fast and fit well under the work bench.

Reorganized Work Bench.
Fourth, new wet/dry vacuum with wheels purchased from Costco.  Looks much more classy and yet still compact.

Next step, figure out some type of flooring to cover the bare concrete.

Whew!  That was tiring, but I'm glad I did it.
