Maiden day for the Freewing Avanti S.  Two successful flights completed and didn't even have to change my underwear!  Jet programmed and set up per instructions and it flew very well right out of the box.  A few clicks of left aileron and she was flying very straight and true.  First flight no flaps for take off, but on the second flight, take off flaps cut the rotation distance significantly (maybe 20 or so feet).  Landings were surprisingly simple.  Comes in fast, but with full flaps and some throttle, no problem.  Remember to keep speed for turns and final approach.

A few notes:
  • First time programing a plane with Spektrum DX8.  Channel assignments on the receiver are as follows: Throttle, Aileron, Elevator, Rudder.  Not the same as Futaba.
  • Expos toned down to 50 percent on A and E.  May decrease more for elevator for better elevator response.
  • Two Admiral 6S 5000 50 C packs.  Sounds big, but only about 3 minutes of flight and that wasn't balls to the wall the entire flight.  May need to pick up one more battery for longer fun at the field.

Goblin 570 issues:

One successful tame flight.  But on the second flight, upon initiating the ESC, the ESC started to smoke!  Unplugged battery and luckily everything cooled down.  Tossed the ESC when I got home and bought a Hobbywing 120 V4 ESC with programming card.  Will convert to all Hobbywing for future helis.
